Hello Everyone!

Can you believe mid 70’s and sun at the end of August?

I would like to thank Lenith Fronda,  and her staff from Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, for hosting the August 5th Business After Hours.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Alaska Aerospace Rededication Ceremony on August 13th ! CEO Craig Campbell gave an inspiring talk on the future business coming Kodiak’s way in the aerospace industry. Senator Gary Stevens, Representative Louise Stutes and Borough Mayor Jerrol Friend all spoke highly of the industry at the event, as well as Board Chair, Dr Robert McCoy. The facility is pristine new and we had a pretty hardy turnout.  I would like to thank Craig, and the Aerospace Board, for their continued Chamber of Commerce support and maintaining their PIKE Sponsorship. If you would like to learn more about upgrading your membership to a PIKE level, and the benefits, call Trevor at the Chamber office (907-486-4557)

Two Business After Hours in September, the first, September 16th, is Senior Citizens of Kodiak, and Kodiak Area Transportation Systems, at the Senior Center! Our Mayor, Pat Branson, will be our hostess, 5:30-7:30, the usual door prizes, split the pot (remember, the Chamber half goes toward our Chamber of Commerce scholarship fund)  and refreshments! Have you heard about the great public transportation system in Kodiak? Please stop by and learn about what KATS is doing in Kodiak and help show your support. Hope to see you on the 16th!

On September 30th, we are hosting a Business After Hours at Kodiak College! I actually teach, ‘Beginning Weight Training” there and absolutely love our local college! I think quite a few Kodiak residences do not know much about Kodiak College. This event will be the usual 5:30-7:30pm in the Industrial Arts Building.

We do have an election coming up and the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Candidate Forum, along with KMXT, on Sept 27th. We not only encourage you to vote but to be an informed voter!

Governor Walker is coming to Kodiak and he will be our key note speaker at the Annual Kodiak Chamber of Commerce Dinner! This event will be at the Kodiak Convention Center on Oct 7th! Please stay tuned for more details.

Be involved in your Chamber of Commerce!
